Hello Mary,
My name is Mark Obrochta and I am Lil Phillips' grandson. Just this morning my ten year old daughter was learning to write couplets in her 5th grade poetry class. Jumping at the opportunity to share grandma's work, I sent her to school with a copy of Laughing on the Couch. It has the most poems that her age can understand. Anyway, after she left for school I did an internet search for her work. Top of the list was your website.
I was so pleased to see that her work was continuing to touch people's lives. My family has granted me exclusive rights to her work, as I spent the most time with her during her "creative" years. I spent just about every summer of my youth on Cape Cod with my grandparents, and hope to someday be able to make it a tradition for my children who are now 10, 6 and 2. I liked your idea of Lil becoming a Poet Laureate. I have often thought of having her work published on a grander scope, but raising three children and my wife and I running our own businesses have kept me from pursuing it further.
I simply wanted to write and thank you for sharing her work with a greater audience, and for enjoying her philosophy of life. She was an amazing person and I miss her and my grandfather dearly. It is nice however to have her legacy of poetry and newspaper articles to reflect upon.
